Snow White, Rose Red

Having two beautiful daughters to dress alike and dote over has really been fun! While they are both energetic, sweet, and have great smiles, each one's differences have really enhanced our home.

Julia, our "Sleeping Beauty," broke all family records by sleeping through the night at 7 weeks. Amazingly, she continues to be a great sleeper. She has smiled literally from Day One, and has been so good at sitting and playing by herself...that is, until she learned to crawl. Then, sudden transformation, life has NOT been the same. Now that Julia is nearly 1 year old (on Dec.20), her activity has taken us by storm. She is the fastest mover, explorer, and climber we've had. All with that great grin. And her little tongue that, like a certain uncle, hangs out when she is concentrating. Along with exploring, Julia loves clapping at Kindermusik, taking baths, getting her toes tickled, splashing in toilets, being twirled around, and eating frozen peas. (Frozen peas are my salvation at dinner-making time.) We especially love how she holds things up victoriously with one arm like the Statue of Liberty.

Sarah has grown up so much this year. She even told me recently that she is thankful "for to grow up." She has a sharp memory and helps me keep on track of what we are supposed to do on which days.("Kindermusik is on Monday, [home] preschool is on Tuesday, and Ballet is on Wednesday!") She is quite self-motivated, sometimes getting up and making her bed and saying her prayers and even getting dressed, all without being told. (WOW. If this only happened every day! I guess that's why we have 18 years at home?) She loves to learn and is starting the basics of reading. Her favorite activities are slumber parties with cousins or Aunt Becca, treats, dolls, dress-ups, art, and movies. She's our local dramatist and tender-heart. Nathan summed it up when he said he was thankful for "a loving Sarah."

Be sure to read a few of the things she's said this year on the quotes page!
